    Virtue's Last Reward Bug Workaround

With Virtue's Last Reward building momentum across Europe, we are delighted that so many people are able to enjoy this exceptional game. For many it has been a new experience and Virtue's Last Reward has re-energized the visual novel genre like never before.

It is with regret that the 3DS version of the game has unfortunately been troubled with a saving bug reported in the PEC room. This bug, which can cause save data to corrupt, was first found in the original version of Virtue's Last Reward released in Japan and sadly the developer was unable to find the cause of this glitch during the localization of the game. We apologise to those who have been affected by the bug and understand the frustration caused.

While we don't have assets or resources to create a fix at RSG, we can raise awareness and advise fans how they can prevent the save bug from occurring. Upon investigation the glitch can be found in the PEC room (Pressure Exchange Room) and is prone to occur when the 3DS has been running for a prolonged amount of time without switching off. The data is vulnerable when saving during the puzzle section of the room.

The following workaround may contain minor spoilers from the flow chart.

    • Save during the novel section of the game before entering the PEC room while in the locked lever room with Dio and Clover (shown in the images below)
    • Switch your 3DS off and on after the save
    • Do not save during the "Escape Section" of the PEC room

This shows the whereabouts of the save location on the flow chart accessible in-game.

This will be the last chance to save before entering the PEC room.

Following these steps will ensure that your data remains safe. Having completing the room you will be free to save again during the subsequent novel section. Once again we apologise for the inconvenience caused and we hope this information allows you to enjoy Virtue's Last Reward without any issues.
