I bought Half Minute Hero from the Swedish PlayStation Store on Friday (January 27th 2011) and I too have problems with choppy music, which won't keep me from playing through this awesome game but does make for a somewhat frustrating experience and bad impression of this release, added to the missing online ranking features. I can only recommend the UMD version as I haven't experienced the same problems with it.

I bought it from the Eu PSN too (the french one to be precise), and I'm super disapointed by the music bug too. And according to this thread this has been fixed in the japanese and US versions. It might not be the best time to bump this thread because the PSN is down these days, but I hope the game will be fixed someday.

Here is a version timeline:

Japanese UMD version released
Japanese DL version released
US version (UMD+DL) released, with improved code from Japanese version
(Analyse and try to amend Japanese DL version )
EU version released
Japanese version patched to US+EU version.

In regard to the quality of the code, the amended Japanese DL version and US/EU version are the same and cannot be improved.

Apologies for the sound problem but there is nothing we can do about it.

There's an XBLA version on its way - you guys got any relation to that?
