Rune Factory is a blend of HarvestMoon(Farming Life Sim) and RPG. Basically it's like living in a fantasy world. Instead of livestock and sprites to help you you get monsters. Instead of mines you get dungeons and bosses inside them. You also get a RPG storyline and a quest system of some sort. The games are very addictive and there is lots to do in them. The series seems to be getting better.

That does sound like an appealing game.

I would suggest Rune Factory 2 first. The first part of the game where you pick who will be your character's mum is basically an extended tutorial.

Everone seems to like Rune Factory 2, but it left me rather cold, to be honest.
I didn't like the whole bi-generational thing; just as you got to know the characters in one context, you where thrust into a different one that made how you thought of the characters before rather redundant. I also don't much like children, and thus playing three-quarters of the game as an 8-year-old would not be something I would choose.

I have heard of some people who prefer just playing 1st gen as opposed to playing 2nd gen. Even though it has some limitations. The difficulty, the focus on dungeons and not being able to properly marry are the biggest complaints of 2nd gen I have found. 2nd gen can change drastically depending on how well prepared for it you are. being under prepared makes 2nd gen very difficult but being over prepared means you haven't a lot to do outside the quests.

I think reason a lot like it is because it's first RF to have a choice to be a girl, proper quest system and easy beginning. At least that is what I have read online as the reasons why. Everyone is different though...

Mire details on the game: http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=163342

Quote:
- Margaret (voiced by Aoi Yuuki) is an elf with a serious but kind and caring personality
- she plays music at the local eatery
- "You! Throw garbage in the garbage bin!" is her catchphrase
- Bishnal (voiced by Daisuke Namikawa) is learning to become a steward from an elder in the field
- he takes people words at face value, so he's easy to foo
- he didn't agree with his parents' opinions, so he left home
- dating uses the "Doki Doki Zoom" system, which means the camera will zoom in on a character the more you're itnerested in them
- this kind of affection can grow when doing things like fishing and playing a piano

Official website has changed a tiny bit. Not really worth noting though.

Better then never getting the game at all.

We should support RSG so they can become a huge company and localise games super fast. :O_O: Although huge companies aren't always fast. :sigh:

Really happy they made the anime intro 3D. It's nice to see them put the effort in even if it is only the intro anime scene.

Other then that there are scans of a manga for the game with characters from previous RF games. It's not a serious one so don't think those characters will appear. Would be nice to see Raguna and Mist more though.

A few more details but not a lot: http://www.siliconera.com/2011/10/24/why-does-rune-factory-4-let-you-talk-to-dragons/

News is really slow for this game....

I wonder how an anime scene in 3D looks like.
Would be nice if we could get that game in 2012.

It would be nice, but we all know it's not going to happen.
Since the Japanese release has been pushed back till Spring next year, even America will be lucky to see it within the year, and since it's region-locked we probably won't get it until at least 9 months after that.
