We’ve been lucky enough to receive one of the early Steam Box consoles prior to launch for testing. It’s a beautifully made little machine and it has been able run all the Linux based games we could throw at it from our Steam Libraries. We’d like to know what your opinion is on this new product which will soon be entering the market.

This week we thought we’d do something a little bit different for Topical Tuesday. RSGTT has been running for over a year and a half now and we’ve covered a huge range of video game subjects from your favourite controller to the importance of tutorials. One of the most talked about questions to feature on Topical Tuesdays was the battle between Digital and Retail – where do you by your games from and why?
From this post, on 23rd October 2012, we collected data from both Facebook and Twitter and found that approximately 89% of people voted for retail and 11% for digital. We’d like to see how things have changed 14 months down the line, so get voting! Click the image below and leave a comment on the Facebook image.
With the Oculus Rift release on the horizon, we are closer than ever to a mainstream Virtual Reality headset that could change the way we play games. On paper, Virtual Reality goes hand-in-hand with gaming as a way to increase levels of immersion for the player by creating the digital world around them. We want to know what you think of Virtual Reality and its effect on the future of gaming.

Hello, and welcome to the shiny new website of Rising Star Games! It’s great to have you here.
Anyone who has visited our website in the past will be sure to notice things have changed around here and they have changed for the better! As a video games publisher that loves its awesome community (that’s you guys) we thought it was time to spice up RSG’s cyberspace and turn the website into a locale for the fans.
So why the change?
Our previous website had all the right ingredients in it but we felt it was missing something. It was missing heart. Every website needs a heart to keep things alive. Our new content-driven website is a vibrant, fresh and dynamic place built for the community. Want to keep up with all the latest news and announcements? It will be here. Stay on top of what’s going down on Facebook, Twitter and youtube all in one place. Get all the info and download the highest resolution media for your favourite games here too.
At the moment, only a select few of our latest games are present on the website. Over time we will be adding our back-catalogue as we go.
Go ahead, take a look around! What you see here today is only the beginning of the RSG website. Having it built and maintained in-house gives us the ability to customise and adapt it with the help of the community and create an experience that is unique to our fans. We are truly looking forward to seeing what we can build together!
This week in Topical Tuesday, we’ve asked you if you think video games have become easier over the years. Of course there will always be games on either end of the spectrum, for example Hello Kitty is meant to be easy. Akai Katana? Not so much.
It is also the norm to have multiple difficulty settings in modern games to accommodate for different skills levels. But is today’s ‘Medium’ the same as our last generation’s ‘Medium’? Are games designers softening to core experience in order to make a game more accessible? Or are we just getting older and more experienced so games feel less challenging?

Writing this blog entry presents quite a problem. It is impossibly difficult to explain in words just how awesome this Deadly Premonition iBook really is. As far as iBook’s go, the Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut – The Official Visual Companion is a master-piece (as well as a bit of a mouthful!).
The iBook is a comprehensive tour guide to world of Deadly Premonition and a testament to the creativity, originality and dedication of the team behind it. The iBook takes an exclusive inside look behind the scenes with many appearances from the game director himself, the beloved Swery.
Inside the 352-page book you will find:
• Over 100 interactive elements and loads of hidden secrets
• Read Swery 65’s notebook and learn how the game was made
• Three interactive maps showing everything in the game
• Never-before-seen concept sketches and high-resolution art
• Play with the soundboard or listen to the soundtrack
And the best news is that this work of art has had a permanent price reduction on the Apple iBook Store! For less than the price of a fortune-telling coffee, you could own the Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut – The Official Visual Companion on your iPad!
Here’s a link to the iBook Store.
***Warning – this iBook does contain spoilers. The iBook is only compatible with iPads.***
